A client loved a cedar wall hanging with fractal burning we had at a show, but they were looking for a decorative bench/table for a hard-to-fill space under a low window in their home. Once legs were added to the wall hanging, they had the perfect piece to showcase under their window!
Our clients purchased a house in the States while they were still living overseas, not realizing there was a large bar in their family room. The bar didn't fit their lifestyle but, as frequent movers, they were hesitant to remove it. Both are avid readers and they already had numerous filled bookcases throughout the house....and they still had more boxes packed with books. The perfect solution was to build an oak bookcase insert around the existing oak bar resulting in a solid bookcase that can be removed if they ever move again and the bar will remain intact.
Our clients had an existing gas fireplace in their new townhome that they had installed stone on, but everything was just a bit un-square. This presents a problem when you're trying to build, but we were able to accommodate and visually correct the odd dimensions and build them a beautiful custom, solid oak mantle.
Down to the last week before his wedding, the groom realized he'd bitten off more than he could chew. Armed with his antique doors and inspiration photos, he stopped by our shop to see if we could help. We built the door surround from reclaimed timbers and planks and installed it on site.
Our client had a beautiful stained glass window that was framed in a small metal frame. She loved the window, but the frame wasn't practical for her. She brought with her two antique walnut frames that she wanted used on the project (outer frame in the pictures). We constructed an inner frame made from solid curly maple for a gorgeous, two-toned frame that is not only structurally sound, but beautiful to look at.
Lora had a special request; not only did she want a solid oak headboard, but she also had a vision of their names and anniversary date carved into the wood as if it were carved on a tree. We constructed the headboard out of reclaimed oak and darkened the panels. The darkened panels allowed for the carving to be more visible. We worked closely with the client on the size and look of the carving so it would exceed her expectations.
